The Great Trojan War

The Trojan War was a famous war between the Greeks and the people of Troy. It is a story from long ago that has been told for many years. The war began when a prince of Troy named Paris took Helen, who was known as the most beautiful woman in the world. Helen was already married to a Greek king named Menelaus, so this caused great anger.

To get Helen back, the Greek kings joined together and formed a strong army led by King Agamemnon. Some of their most well-known soldiers were Achilles, who was very brave and strong, and Odysseus, who was very clever. The Greeks sailed to Troy and surrounded the city, trying to break through its high walls.

The war lasted for almost ten years. The Trojans stayed safe behind their strong walls, and the Greeks could not easily get into the city. Both sides fought many battles, but neither side could win.

In the end, the Greeks came up with a clever plan. They built a huge wooden horse and left it outside the city, pretending to sail away. The Trojans thought the horse was a gift and brought it into their city. But inside the horse were Greek soldiers. At night, the soldiers came out, opened the city gates, and let the rest of the Greek army in. This led to the fall of Troy.

The story of the Trojan War teaches us about bravery, clever thinking, and the problems that can come from poor choices.
